Colette Patterns Spring Palette Challenge 2011: Week One

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

I thought it would be a lot of fun to join in on Colette Patterns Spring Palette Challenge 2011, but with a maternity and baby twist!  My last pregnancy I didn’t make any maternity clothes, and this time around I would love to try my hand at a few pieces.  I’m hoping to finish two dresses, a swing coat, and an outfit for Little Mister and soon-to-arrive Little Mademoiselle. For Week One, we were asked to gather our inspiration, set our palette, and decide how many garments we wanted to make.  I have always loved kelly green and navy blue, so I used those as my starter colors.  A nice sunshine yellow fits in well, with white details and some navy and white stripes.  A little nautical, a little vintage!  I’m hoping to use Colette’s “Crepe” pattern with an alteration to fit my pregnant belly, and I am going to try and create the second look on my own.  For Little Mister I was thinking of a toddler coat and Little Mademoiselle a jumper.  I’m not sure I’ll be able to complete the swing coat, but it’s going to be fun to try!  I’m really looking forward to this, it will be so nice to have a new, homemade spring maternity wardrobe!
